A “510 thread” type battery is an industry standardized size of screw-on style vaporizer battery that is compatible with the widest range of cartridges.  The batteries come in either ‘buttonless’ or button-operated designs and in a variety of battery capacity sizes (mAh), which determines how much use you can get out of your vape pen between charges.  The 510 thread compatible cartridges are available in a variety of materials, designs and capacities, but the connection point (threads used to screw on the cartridge tank) is standardized. A “pod” system uses removable cartridges (either pre-filled or refillable) that typically slide into the end of a specialized battery and are held in place magnetically, rather than screwed on.  The pod works the same way as a normal tank and atomizer does in a standard vaporizer.  It contains the wickless ceramic coil to vaporize the oil and the vapor is then sent to your mouth through the mouthpiece.  Pod batteries are available with or without button-operation, are available in a variety of battery storage capacities and are often more powerful than some 510 thread style batteries.  Pods usually hold about 0.5ml to 1ml of oil, although some pods may be larger.  Pod batteries are usually simple to recharge by connecting the battery to a USB charger or a charging stand designed for your pod device.  Check out O2VAPE’s discreet mini “Decoy” Pod Battery or our sleek and stylish “Vessel” Pod Battery here.

Our vape pens are super easy to use!

Without our ‘Buttonless’ pens, simply inhale smoothly from the mouthpiece for up to 10 seconds at a time.  It automatically turns on and off to deliver the perfect puff.  That’s it!

The answer depends on the viscosity of the oil.  If your oil is very thin (like olive oil) then you will want a small intake hole (1.22mm). If the oil is a little thicker, more like honey, then you would need a medium size intake hole (1.66mm). Lastly, if your oil is very thick then you would want a cartridge with the largest intake hole sizes (2.0mm or Vari-Flow carts).

We made a handy walkthrough guide for the process here.  Essentially, just unscrew the the mouthpiece, pull it off, fill the glass cartridge with your oil (using a syringe, dart or applicator), then replace the mouthpiece and screw it on firmly.  Then you’re good to go!

The two most common abbreviations used when referring to the electrical power of a vaporizer pen are “V” (voltage) and “mAh” (milliamp hours).

Voltage (V) refers to the intensity of the electrical power.  Vape pen batteries come in a range of voltages and also in variable voltage styles.  Finding the right voltage will depend on the resistance from the atomizer to reach the optimal temperature, which is from 280* to 350* for most oils. The common range that you will expect to find is between 3.3v and 4.8v.  In general you should expect that any stylus or slim pen will have a voltage in the range of 3.3v, although the pen may adjust the voltage with the strength of the draw which may allow them to draw as low as 3.0v.  This is about the right voltage for the common polycarbonate style oil cartridge, but it won’t have enough power to properly heat a ceramic or wickless ceramic cartridge, as these offer a higher quality vapor and require voltages in the range of 3.7 or higher. Voltage numbers don’t tell you whether it’s a better product, they just tell you whether it is the right product for your cartridge and vice versa.

Millamp Hours (mAh) refers to the storage capacity of the battery and how long a pen will stay charged.  The larger the number before “mAh”, the larger the storage capacity and the more power that can be drawn from the battery before it needs to be recharged.  So basically, a bigger number equals a longer battery life and, all else equal, a bigger size. Generally a vape pen battery will provide between 280-900 mAh. The high rating of a 900 mAh is normally reserved for high voltage or high resistance kits such as a wax pen battery.

The vape pen battery sends power to the atomizer, a wire coil or ceramic element that then heats up and vaporizes the oil that is held in the vape cartridge. In order to have a flawless and wonderful experience with your oil vape kit, all of these components need to work together and “sing the same song”. Not every battery battery will work well with every cartridge and oil type, and some may not even fit correctly.  It is very important to use a well-matched vape pen setup.

A Rapid Charger is a type of charger typically used with cell phones or other high capacity lithium battery-powered devices which are specifically matched to and designed only for that device.

Cell phone chargers and other rapid chargers use the wrong specs for vape batteries and WILL damage your battery.  It is extremely important to use the charger provided with your vape battery and to use a normal USB charger rather than a rapid charger.  You should not use ANY charger over 5 volts/1 amp when charging your battery. Trying to cut corners can damage your battery and fry either the processor or the battery itself. Avoid using your phone’s rapid charger and opt for a normal USB port, wall adapter or car charger.

It’s very important to match the voltage of your charger with your battery.  Some vape batteries will come with higher voltage or amperage chargers then others.  If you have questions about replacing a charger, contact us for help choosing the right one for your battery.

When charging an O2VAPE vape pen battery, only use the recommended charging adapter and a normally powered USB.  Simply plug your USB charger into a standard port then screw your battery into the provided USB adapter until the light turns red (snug, not too tight). After 2-3 hours your battery will be fully charged.

We do our best in making this information available to every customer since and it could impact your warranty. If you use a rapid charger and your battery is damaged, it is not going to fire correctly and may need to be replaced.

In between recharges, the life of the battery will depend on the battery storage capacity (mAh) and the frequency of use.

Batteries will last at least 1 to 2 years depending on usage and following our charging best practices.  We do offer a lifetime warranty on all of our 510 thread vape batteries.

When your battery is low it will go into a low voltage mode. This mode is indicated by the battery LEDs blinking 10-15 times when button is pressed.

LED lights at the bottom of the battery will blink 10-15 times to alert you that the battery is dead.

O2VAPE offers a lifetime warranty on all 510 thread oil vaporizers. However, be sure to check your charger, connection and USB port to ensure that the problem isn’t caused by any of these.

If the light on the USB charger stays green and does not switch to red that means that the battery and charger are not making a connection.

If you are experiencing an issue where your vape pen battery won’t charge or hit with a cartridge screwed in, you may need to adjust the connection plate inside the 510 thread.  This connection plate is what activates your vape cartridge and is also what allows your charger to transfer power back to your battery when charging. This is the most common reason for this issue and it doesn’t mean that your cartridge is defective.  This connection plate is designed to move slightly in order to work with a variety of different vape cartridges with 510 thread.

It’s a super easy fix that just about anyone can do. You can use a paperclip to gently pry up the connection plate inside the thread and then screw on your charger or cartridge.  Problem solved!

In order to keep your vape pen functioning correctly, we recommend that cartridges be refilled no more than 2 times. This will keep oil build-up inside of the cartridge to a minimum.

It is also recommended that when storing extra cartridges or when the pen is not in use, that they are stored in an upright position.  This will allow for seamless use when swapping cartridges in and out.

You will want to use a q-tip with a very small amount of rubbing alcohol. After applying rubbing alcohol to the q-tip, be sure to squeeze the head of the q-tip to make sure there is no excess liquid that may drip into the battery. Then you will want to lightly scrub the contact plate area to remove any residue. Note: the cleaning process my push down the battery contact plate. After completing the cleaning process, simply raise the contact plate with a paper clip to help reestablish a connection.

We recommend that the cartridges be filled no more than 2 times. This will keep oil build-up inside the cartridge to a minimum.
